Musical Director (Cyfarwyddwr Cerdd)

Mrs Morwen Pugh, L.R.A.M., (retired music teacher) who has been with the choir since its conception in 1969.

It was Morwen who actually founded the choir following informal chats with some of ‘Her Boys’ who wanted to sing and ‘have some fun’. She has been its inspiration ever since and some of those ‘boys’ (a little greyer perhaps, but certainly no wiser!) are still singing today.

Accompanist (Cyfeilydd)
Val Whiston L.R.A.M., A.R.A.M., (retired music teacher) who has been with the choir since 1992.

Val is a busy musical lady in the Talgarth area and the choir is very fortunate to enjoy her commitment – at both concerts and rehearsals alike – where everyone hugely appreciates her patience and tuition.
Both are retired music teachers.

Soloists:

Sheila Owens, (mezzo soprano) is a farmer's wife and works for the MOD. She has been singing with the choir for over 25 years.

Susan Williams, (soprano) is a community midwife and has been with the choir since 1996.
Both were born and brought up in the Talgarth / Hay-on-Wye area.
Choir members who are also soloists are John Watkins (Classical Guitar) and David Duggan.

The choir membership currently consists of 60 members from all walks of life and would welcome any newcomers who are interested. Rehearsal is on a Monday night 8pm - 10pm at Gwernyfed Rugby Club, Trefecca Road, Talgarth (www.grfc.btik.com) with the exception of Bank Holidays, the last week of July for 4 weeks and throughout the Christmas Holiday period.
Visitors are also very welcome to attend rehearsals.
